Star Trek: The Next Generation - 4.05 Remember Me

Beverly Crusher is the only one to notice when people begin to go missing from the Enterprise.

Seven Star ships out of ten.

Notes
  • The last to vanish were Wesley and finally Picard.
  • The Traveller returns

Star Trek - 2.15 Journey to Babel

The Enterprise is taking a large group of ambassadors of the Federation to a council at Babel, including Mr. Spock's parents, the Vulcan Ambassador Sarek and his human wife, Amanda.

The old rare blood type trope, but you'd think they'd have a reasonable blood substitute by then.

Notes
  • Spock hasn't been home in 4 years, and hasn't to his father as a father in 18 years.
  • Sarek is secretly proud of his son being a Starfleet officer according to Amanda.
  • Vulcans used to execute people.
  • Sarek is 102 years old.
  • Gratuitous shirtless Kirk scene
  • Spock uses an experimental drug on himself to enable Bones to correct Sarek's heart defect.
  • Bones seemed rather to have a full sickbay with Sarek, Spock and Kirk in there as patients at the end.

Star Trek: The Next Generation - 4.04 Suddenly Human

The Enterprise brings a human male teenager who had been raised by Talarians.

Picard's difficulty with children is revisited. I'm wondering if they were trying to attract a younger audience this season as this is the third episode in a row to feature younger guest stars. You'd think the soundproofing in a 24th century star ship my be better. The resolution of the episode felt rather rushed.

Star Trek: Voyager - 6.01 Equinox, Part 2

Voyager's crew races to track down the Equinox which has Seven and the Doctor aboard.

A rather disturbing performance by Robert Picardo.

Star Trek: Voyager- 5.26 Equinox, Part 1

Voyager comes to the aid of another Starfleet ship in the Delta Quadrant, the USS Equinox.

I don't remember seeing this episode before and it's rather interesting.

Star Trek: The Next Generation - 2.15 Pen Pals

The Enterprise investigates a planet that is rapidly becoming uninhabitable and Wesley is assigned the planetary survey. Data communicates with a young alien on the surface of the planet.

Star Trek: Voyager - 4.26 Hope and Fear

While still trying to decode the message from Starfleet the crew meets an alien with a flair for translation.

An okay episode, but rather underwhelming as a season finale.

Star Trek: Voyager - 4.24 Demon

Running critically short of deuterium, Voyager attempts to harvest it from a "Demon" class planet which is extremely inhospitable to most life forms.

Great, so now most of the crew has demon planet clones.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - 1.10 Move Along Home

The station engages in it's first formal reception with a new species from the Gamma Quadrant who are extremely interested in games. Sisko, Bashir, Dax and Kira become trapped in a game.

Star Trek: The Next Generation - 4.03 Brothers

Data takes control of the Enterprise, to met Doctor Soong, his creator, while it is on an emergency trip to a starbase to save the life of one of it's crew member's children.

Soong had designed a basic emotion chip for Data which Lore tricks Soong into installing the chip into himself.

This episode was an interesting backfill of character history and it was rather frightening to see what Data is capable of.

Notes
Data can perfectly mimic Captain Picard's voice.

Data mets his creator, Doctor Noonian Soong and Lore joins the pair. Soong survived the attack of the crystalline entity. Soong is dying. Soong has humanoid skeletons and apparent dinosaurs.

Data was created after Lore and has complete free will. Soong hoped Data had become a cybernetist. Soong had intended to fix Lore and says the only difference between the two is a bit of programming

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - 6.19 In The Pale Moonlight

Sisko attempts to bring the Romulans into the Federation conflict with the Dominion.

Sisko instigates a operation to make it look like the Dominion is planning on invading Romulus. I enjoyed the story of Sisko's journey to committing a series of crimes and a major fraud. That Sisko's plan failed but Garak's didn't was a good plot twist. Garak, with all his flaws, and perhaps because of them, was able to do what was necessary to bring the Romulans in by assassinating the Senator and forger. I really liked the fact that the plan succeeded and this is all guilt over the methods and the admission that he could live with it and would do it all again drove that point home.

Star Trek: The Next Generation - 4.02 Family

While the Enterprise is undergoing repairs at Earth, Worf is visited by his parents and Picard visits his brother and considers a job offer on Earth. Beverly decides to finally give Wesley a recording from his father.

A couple of things bothered me in this episode. Weird, tiny rolls being used as suitcases bother me, unless like the Doctor's TARDIS, they are bigger on the inside. Why does Picard's family have no French accent?

An interesting character piece that allowed some the character to deal with their issues but rather dull and inconsequential.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - 6.22 Valiant

Jake and Nog are rescued by the USS Valiant, a Defiant class ship operating covertly in Dominion Space and run by run by a group of elite Star Fleet cadets.

I was sort of surprised the Vulcan crew member was buying it. Nice change of pace episode but rather inconsequential in the scheme of things.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - 6.20 His Way

Odo receives advice about romancing Kira from Vic Fontaine, an observant, self-aware, holographic 1960's Las Vegas lounge singer from one of Bashir's holo-programs.

Found it humorous that Kira and Odo are so unable to deal with their feelings for each other that they had to be set up by a hologram to finally go out on a date. The kissing scene on the promenade still makes me giggle with delight. I like this episode despite the fact that only progress that was made was in Odo's and Kira's relationship.

Star Trek: The Next Generation - 4.01 Best of Both Worlds, Part 2

Riker and the crew of the Enterprise endeavour stop a Borg cube enroute to sector 001 and rescue Captain Picard after his transformation into Locutus of Borg, after Starfleet's devastating the defeat at Wolf 359.

I always felt ripped off by only hearing about the Battle of Wolf 359 second hand and seeing the aftermath instead of getting to the battle on screen.

The rescue of Picard was well executed and the utter destruction a single cube was able to unleash on 40 ships was frighteningly impressible though.

Interesting that the Borg are not interested in assimilating Data, instead considering him obsolete. Ironic that Data was crucial to the defeat of the Borg.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - 6.18 Inquisition

Deputy Director Sloan of Starfleet Internal Affairs comes to the station to investigate Julian Bashir with the suspicion that Bashir was turned into a Dominion spy during his time at the Dominion prison camp.

I've always enjoyed watching guest star William Sadler (Sloan) work. I enjoyed this episode and didn't mind the "it was only the holo-suite" plot component" which usually bothers me as a weak writing.

This episode set into motion the interesting Section 31 plot line. An independent Starfleet intelligence branch, dating back to the original Starfleet Charter, explains how the Federation managed to survive in the Alpha quadrant without a known shadow/black intelligence organization while surrounded by the likes of the Cardassians and Romulans which otherwise seemed like a miracle.

Star Trek - 2.08 I, Mudd

Seems rather easy to hijack the Enterprise in this episode. I found using being illogical, even insane, to defeat the very logical androids to be cute but entertaining. Now I'm left wondering what ever happened to the Andromeda android colony and why they were used as a basis for Federation androids after some study.

Star Trek: The Next Generation - 3.26 The Best of Both Worlds, Part 1

Great, now, Riker will be turning down commands for the rest of the run of the series. I've always loved this episode for that last shot of Locutus of Borg, one of the more frightening image to come out of this series.

Star Trek: The Next Generation - 3.25 Transfigurations

I probably saw this episode a long time ago but I honestly don't remember it. Wasn't Sarek causing the crew to behave strangely just a few episodes ago? When did the Federation get the right to keep people they rescued against their will? I really don't remember Worf dying of a broken neck. I wonder how I managed to miss this episode over the years. It seems the Federation doesn't have much of a refugee policy in this episode (or their policy is to accept no refugees). A charge of "disruptive influence" sounds like a possible political dissident, not just a criminal.

Nice touches: Miles' kayaking injury. Quote of the Episode: Worf to Geordi: "I have much to teach you about women."

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - 6.16 Change of Heart

I rather like this episode or maybe I just like Dax and Worf and the newlywed angst. It was a good episode that established them as a married couple and explored what it meant to their careers and lives. The fact it addressed why Worf was not being offered commands of his own was a nice bonus to the episode.

I believe I learnt more about Miles during this episode's B plot line than the previous one's (Honor Among Thieves) A plot line, too.
