Rose and the Doctor return to present day London a year after Rose left to the arrival of aliens to Earth.

Doctor Who - R1.03 The Unquiet Dead

Rose and the Doctor visit Cardiff at Christmas on 1869 and meet Charles Dickens and investigate why the dead are refusing to rest.

I rather liked that somewhere at the back of the TARDIS there is a closet full of period clothing for companions.

• Introduced of the Cardiff rift. 
• Foreshadowing of Rose thinking about her deceased father

• Turns out there were a few billion. 
• Rose is suffering from the misconception that she can't die in the past. The Doctor says history is in flux and the future could be rewritten by what happen there and now.

Doctor Who - R1.02 The End of the World

The Doctor takes Rose 5 billion years into the future to see the Earth consumed by the expanding sun.

This episode served as Rose's and the viewers introduction to travel into the future and Doctor Who novices experience the culture shock along with Rose. We learn more of the Doctor's past with us being introduced to the idea of the Doctor being the last of his kind and his planet perished in a War that they lost.

I found Cassandra's robotic spiders comically delightful.

Doctor Who - R1.01 Rose

Rose Tyler meets the Doctor in her work place, a London department store which he soon blows up.

I love the fact the Doctor's first word to Rose is "Run" which most characters on the show spend a lot of time doing.

I remember when this first aired here in Canada, during the CBC's spring without the hockey play-offs. I found myself interested in the series, but I didn't fall in love with the show until a few episodes later. Before this my only exposure the Doctor Who was trying to watch some early black and white episodes on Space in the 1990s. Boy, do I wish I had persevered and watched more of those episodes.
